Rognidan & Vikruti Vigyan

Rognidan & Vikruti Vigyan Department

The Rognidan subject is the groundwork for all the clinical subjects. The subject helps to understand in depth the disease (Byadhi-Vigyan), its phenomenology (Samprapti-Vigyan), the art and science of clinical examination methods (Rugnaparikshan-Vigyan), the science and symptoms of the disease, the required investigations, and the interpretation of their results. The subject deals with not only the diagnosis but also the prognosis (sadhya-asadhyatva) of disease. Thus, it helps the student understand the philosophy as well as the practicality of Vyadhi Vigyan.

Dr. VJD GAM has a well-established and fully-pledged U.G. department in Rognidan. The UG department has a spacious student’s lab and a full-time staff. The department boasts a fully functional central laboratory, serving as the backbone for in-depth study and a detailed perspective on the subject. The department should ideally enable the person to be an authority in their specialty. The department also enables me to be an encouraging teacher, a philosopher, a guide to the younger generation, and a scientist with an analytical mind. It also inculcates a research-oriented approach to studies.

Objectives

  • Our aim is to mold a BAMS graduate to be an authority in rognidan and vikriti-vigyan.
  • We strive to make the student think, understand, and learn the philosophy of rognidan. Our students will be able to explain the symptoms of new and unexplained diseases and elaborate on the samprapti of each disease with the help of different samhitas.
  • Students will undertake a detailed comparative study of Ayurvedic and modern concepts of disease pathogenesis and clinical features, including Ayurvedic concepts of immunity.
  • We enable students to strike a balance between modern laboratory investigations and additional skills for clinical diagnosis. Students will gain knowledge in pathology, microbiology, and histopathology.
  • Students are taught not only the science but also the art of practicing as a professional Ayurvedic degree holder and an able clinician.

Departmental Features

  • We have a well-equipped teaching pathology lab for students.
  • 100 students (two batches of 50 students work at a time, with separate microscopes for each student).
  • UG programs are regularly conducted.
  • Guest lectures and seminars are conducted for students.
  • Pathological investigation camps are conducted.
