Rasashastra & Bhaishajyakalpana
Rasa Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana fall under the 2nd-year subjects of the BAMS course. It basically deals with the preparation of medicines using various herbs, minerals, and metals.
Ayurveda is a holistic and divine life science and one of the oldest and most holistic medical systems available on the planet today. Ayurveda and its medicines have been serving the needs of ailing humanity for many centuries, through which the whole society can achieve positive health. In Ayurveda, there are four main pillars of chikitsa described under ‘Chikitsa Chatushpad’. These are the physician, the drug, the nurse, and the patient himself. And the success of treatment, according to the physician, solely depends on the drug. Thus, medicine plays an important role in the treatment of a disease. As such, the Rasa Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana are considered the most important and integral parts of Ayurveda.
